An atmospheric YA / crossover fantasy novel currently in development.
It has changed considerably since the first version of the story took shape, but one thing has remained important to me from the beginning: however fantastical the world becomes, the people inside it should still feel real.
I am interested in characters who make imperfect decisions, in choices that have consequences, and in magic that changes more than the immediate problem in front of them. I also want the story to have room for humour, friendship and quieter moments alongside the larger stakes.
Much of the work at this stage is about balance — between worldbuilding and pace, mystery and clarity, and the things I want the reader to know versus the things I want them to discover for themselves.
For now, I am keeping the details of the world and the story deliberately vague. There will be time for those later.
